Khan is one among defaulters from Old Palasia area, who has outstanding water dues of Rs 25,321 in his name for ancestral property address in the city 4/2 Old Palasia. Khan was born in Indore and there is a property in his name besides properties of his relatives in the area.

In September 2014, the civic body had served him notice to clear outstanding water dues amounting to Rs 23,929. Of this, Rs 17,274 tax waiver was announced in IMC 2014-15 budget. The notice has been sent for outstanding due of Rs 5,990. A week’s time was given to him for same, but to no avail.
Gullu Mirza, a relative of Salman Khan, claimed they had no outstanding civic body dues. However, another relative Naim Khan, who had purchased the property from Salman’s father Salim Khan said notices come from civic body in names of Salim Khan and Salman Khan. He said the Khan family had sold most of their property, but titles of land and properties have not changed.
As per IMC records, Khan has not paid water dues since 2006. Salim Khan in 1988-89 had taken water connection from the civic body. On April 1, 2006 water dues for connection stood atRs 3,738, which has now gone up to Rs 25,321 as of now. IMC commissioner Rakesh Singh said, “Salman is just like any other IMC consumer. Being a celebrity doesn’t mean you can evade taxpayer’s responsibility. If there is any due against anyone, he will have to pay it.”
When asked about why bill is in his name when Salman doesn’t live in Indore and had shifted to Mumbai long back, Singh said, “To get details of service number, we will have to get records checked.”
